 CASHIERS

First Alternative seeks two teammates who can deliver excellent customer service and work well in our fast-paced retail environment. Qualified candidates must possess previous customer service and cash handling experience. The ability to multitask, act professionally, and provide attention to detail are all musts, as are excellent communication skills and scheduling flexibility. Familiarity with the organic and natural foods industry are desired, but not required.

Cashiers are the “face” of the Co-op in their daily interactions with customers and are responsible for creating a positive experience for shoppers while at First Alternative. Therefore, excellent communication skills are a must.

Pay begins at $9.93/hour, for 15+ hours/week with the potential for more hours later. Scheduled hours for this position are yet to be determined but may include some morning, evening, and weekend hours. Shifts for this position may be at both the South and North store locations.

COOK/BAKER

The Co-op Kitchen has an opening for a Cook/Baker. The preferred candidate is dependable, motivated, and possesses commercial kitchen cooking experience – especially in the area of baking. Excellent availability and a great attitude are essential. Possession of a current food handler’s card and/or ability to obtain one is required for this position.

The Cook/Baker position assists in preparing ingredients for menu items and baked goods. This is an essential support position in a department with intensive need for quality control and precision.

Pay starts at $10.63 (DOE), and will be for 24+ hours/week.

Scheduled hours for these positions are yet to be determined, but will likely include Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays with three-day weekends on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Must be able to work some early mornings and some evenings.
