CLEANING TEAM MEMBER

We are looking for a dependable and detail oriented person to join our Cleaning Team. The successful candidate will be adaptable and committed to the well-being of the Co-op. S/he will also be diligent and has the ability to cooperative as a teammate.

This position is responsible for keeping First Alternative sparkling on a nightly basis, and as well as for floor and general cleaning, detail work, and for working on special projects as assigned.

Previous professional cleaning experience is preferred, but not required.

The ability to pass a physical capacity exam (PCE) is required for this position.

Pay is dependent on experience, and begins at $9.93/hour. Hours will for this position be for 35+/week. Exact scheduled hours for this position are yet to be determined, but may include some early mornings, nights, and weekend hours.. Shifts for this position will be at both the South and North store locations.

Open availability and a flexible schedule are vital to working at the Co-op.

HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT MANAGER

First Alternative is seeking a Human Resources Assistant Manager. This position assists the Human Resources Manager in providing Human Resources services to staff and managers by providing leadership for several key areas in Human Resources. Coordinates all aspects of hiring and recruitment for new employees, paid subs and owner-workers. Designs and monitors the staff orientation program, including ensuring the program meets the changing needs of the store and the participants. Works closely with the Human Resources Manager to ensure adequate training opportunities for all staff to succeed in their positions. Maintains familiarity with all aspects of the department in order to substitute in supervisor’s absence. Excellent internal and external customer service skills, ability to maintain complete confidentiality, attention to detail, and leadership skills are essential for this position.

Previously existing knowledge of labor laws including ADA, FMLA/OFLA, and workers compensation administration are a big plus but training is available for the right person.

DISHWASHER

First Alternative is looking for a dependable and positive person with previous dishwashing experience in a commercial kitchen to join our team.

Dishwashers are a vital support position in our fast-paced kitchen. Therefore, this individual must be able to work quickly in our team environment. Excellent organization and communication skills are required, as well as multi-tasking abilities, reliability, and previous kitchen experience. Individuals who are enthusiastic and self-motivated are especially desired. Possession of a current food handler’s card is required.

Dishwashers’ main responsibilities are to wash the dishes, pots and pans that are generated by our kitchen, deli and deli customers.

Pay begins at $9.93/hour, and will be for 24+ hours/week. Scheduled hours for this position are yet to be determined but may include morning, daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Dishwashers are based at our South Store location.

BOARD SCRIBE

Do you possess excellent written and oral communications skills, as well as the ability to prioritize, organize, and coordinate tasks? Do you find creative solutions to a variety of requests? Are you savvy with a wide range of computer programs (specifically Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, Foxit, and Phantom)?

We are currently seeking a second Board Scribe to fill a job share. This position will provide administrative and clerical support to the First Alternative Board of Directors. Major tasks for this position include taking Board and committee meeting minutes, preparing and mailing Board packets, and editing and maintaining Board documents.

This position will require the ability to work both independently with little supervision as well as with a diverse group of people. The ability to be both flexible and dependable with time is a must.

Pay for this position starts at $11.34 per hour. Hours for this position will vary between 8 and 10 per week, some weeks more and some weeks less, depending on the needs of the Board of Directors.
