Now Let’s Make the Recipe!

Pump up the color with this tart and tasty applesauce! Airlie Reds have a lovely reddish flesh and delicious tart flavor. Feel free to toss in just a little cinnamon and tailor the amount of sweetening to your family’s particular tastes. Of course, you can use any apple for this recipe, but only our locally grown, organic Airlie Reds from Luckiamute Orchard will give this beautiful red color!

Organic Airlie Red Apple
  • 6 Airlie Red apples
  • 2 Tbsp. honey, maple syrup, or sugar
  • 1/2 to 1 cup water

Instructions:

Peel, quarter, and core apples, and put into large pot. Add 1/2 cup water to start the apples steaming. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until you are able to mash the apples with a spoon. Add more water as needed during cooking process. Add desired sweetener to taste.
