Donations Budget Policy and Principles
As a part of our community-driven mission, First Alternative Co-op provides monetary donations, in-kind donations, and sponsorships to support local non-profits and organizations that are working to improve our community. We have a designated amount of funds available each month to ensure we are able to support the community throughout the entire calendar year.
Priority
Priority is given to 501(c) 3 charitable organizations, 170(c)(1) government entities (such as public schools), and cooperative businesses. Groups & organizations may typically only receive a donation or sponsorship once within any given calendar year, which helps ensure we can spread donations equitably throughout the community.
The Co-op supports fundraising, development, and educational projects or events that are consistent with the Co-op’s bylaws, ends policies, and goals. Priority is given to projects and events that will benefit the public most directly.
Process
Requests must be made at least two weeks prior to funding. Requests can be submitted via the Co-op’s online donation form or via a paper form in store by visiting the Customer Service desk. Questions about Donation and Sponsorship Requests? Please email our Outreach Specialist at [email protected].
