First Alternative Natural Foods Co-op is excited to announce the installation of a new ChargePoint Express 250 Electric Vehicle (EV) charger at the Co-op’s Southtown location, 1007 SE 3rd St., that is now available for use by the community. This is currently Corvallis’ only DC fast charger available to the public.
The ChargePoint Express 250 is a Level 3 charger. This DC fast charger can provide up to 250 miles per hour of charge. It is equipped with a CHAdeMO connection to charge Nissan Leaf vehicles, and a CCS1 connector to charge most other vehicles. Tesla vehicles can be charged on the CCS1 connector with an adaptor (not provided at the charging station).
The installation of the new charger at the Southtown Co-op location was made possible by an E-Mobility Grant from Pacific Power. Championing sustainability in the Corvallis community is one of First Alternative’s core missions and adding a new fast charger will help support increased accessibility for EV charging resources in our community.
“Decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels is a big step in creating a more environmentally conscious and sustainable community,” said Mark Tarasawa, First Alternative Co-op’s newly appointed General Manager. “Increased accessibility to fast charging stations is a key to the broader adoption of electric vehicles, so we are very excited to host the first level 3 fast charging station available for public use in Corvallis.”
